Go Go Parenting Hacks – Make a Healthy Dinner Plate!
Does your child pick out all the vegetables from his/her meal and put them on your plate? Do you struggle to get them to eat healthy? This activity teaches children what food is good for their body by hunting for healthy foods in grocery ads and putting together their own “healthy plate”. It is a great way to review fruits and vegetable names as well as enhancing their fine motor skills by using scissors.

What You Need:
- Grocery ads
- Glue stick
- Paper plate
What You Do:
- Have your child cut pictures of different healthy foods from grocery ads.
- Explain to your child that fruits, vegetables, milk products, grains, and meat help our bodies grow to be healthy and strong.
- Have your child pick out healthy foods from the cut-outs and glue them on a paper plate to make a healthy dinner. (Make extra healthy plates for other members of the family)
It is important to talk to your child about the choices he/she makes and ask questions about why he/she thinks the meal will be nutritious and delicious! Hang the healthy dinner plate on the refrigerator would be a great reminder and bring back the conversation of healthy choices!
